Dr Ken Martin
Our Principal Dentist, Dr Ken Martin (BDSc Qld University) took over an existing practice in Graceville when he and his wife Ruth moved their young family to Brisbane from Gympie in 1989, where he had practiced for 7 years. Since then, both his family and the practice have grown and in 2002 the practice growth necessitated the shift in location to a larger building…our current location at 187 Long St East, Graceville.
Our practice has always been family orientated and has always sought to provide a relaxed and caring atmosphere where the needs of the entire family are met. Ken completed a two and a half year Orthodontic course through POS (Progressive Orthodontic Systems), graduating in 2002. Since then, he has also completed training with INVISALIGN and offers this treatment to adults requiring Orthodontic treatment. Ken’s expertise also includes cosmetic dentistry and the use of implants to replace missing teeth. Ken has done multiple courses over the years in the area of dental implants with many different implant systems e.g. Innova, Imtek, Straumann and MIS, He also completed a hands-on clinical placement course in Columbia (2014) which involved the placement of 24 implants and the performance of a sinus lift procedure.
Patient care is always our top priority, Orthodontic treatments are particularly rewarding especially seeing the amazing transformation in young patients smiles and confidence levels.
Ken is an Australian Dental Association (ADA) member, Dental Update member, as well as a long-standing member of Fauchard Dental Study Club of which he is still currently involved.
Ken’s family is a very important part of his life. With his wife, Ruth they have raised 5 wonderful children and are now enjoying grandchildren. They are actively involved in all their lives and very much enjoy family times together.
Ken’s hobbies are many and varied and currently include cycling on a two-wheeled Recumbent bike, which does seem to incur a lot of attention. Probably not the typical image of a Dentist…. He also enjoys spending his free time on building projects. Having owner built his own straw bale home nineteen years ago, and he is now building a traditional timber framed barn on his property. Life is certainly busy for Ken.
